22/12/08 Thanks very much to those in Chester at the weekend, our collection there on Saturday raised £1543.15 for the Team. Thanks also to the Waverton Singers and the Kelsborough Choir for providing us and shoppers with carols.

Ballon Race Update
The winning balloon travel travelled 233.47 miles to Diss in Norfolk, second balloon went as far as Snetterton, Norfolk 229.79 miles and third balloon went to Claypole Nottinghamshire, 141 miles

The ballon race was held at the Llangollen Balloon Festival on 30th and 31st August 2008 and raised £2164.85 for the Team. Thanks very much to all those who contributed towards this total.

Thanks to all the runners who supoported the NEWSAR Clwydian Fell Race 2008 which raised £200 for the Team. An annual 10-mile fell race over the Clwydian Hills, which includes the summit of Moel Famau. The event only is suitable for persons with appropriate experience.

The Team were at the Llangollen Balloon Festival on 30th and 31st August 2008

Thanks to all those who attended over the weekend and helped raise £2164.85 for the Team.

We managed to send off around 1500 balloons over the two days. The result is due after 31st October 2008.

Members of the Team attended the funeral of former Team member Fern Levy who sadly passed away.

Fern joined the Team in 1992 and was a member until 2002 when she went to teach in Africa with VSO.

During her time with NEWSAR, Fern kept many a team member on their toes and was one of those instrumental in devising and introducing formal navigation standards within the Team. Donations totalling £60 were made to the Team in Fern’s name.
