44/14 – 14/12/14

The team was called to search for a vulnerable missing person in the Colwyn Bay area. Despite extensive searches carried out over the whole day, the missing person was not found – they were subsequently found outside the search area.

 

43/14 – 22/11/14

NEWSAR assisted Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation with a search for a vulnerable man at Little Orme. Other agencies involved included search dogs from SARDA Wales, HM Coastguard, RNLI and North Wales Police. Personal effects from the missing person were found during the search.  Sadly, several days later Police Divers recovered the man from the water below the Little Orme.

42/14 – 4/11/14

NEWSAR was called out to assist the police with a search for an elderly woman who had been missing for seven hours – the missing person was found safe and well as the Team was deploying.

 

41/14 – 1/11/14

NEWSAR was asked to standby by North Wales Cave Rescue Organisation who attended a report of a sheep stuck in a mine shaft near Dyserth – the Team was not required.

 

40/14 – 27/10/14

The Team searched the Hawarden area for a vulnerable missing person – they were found later after returning home.

 

39/14 – 21/9/14

NEWSAR search managers gave advice to the police regarding a vulnerable missing person in the Llangollen area.

 

38/14 – 19/9/14 to 21/9/14

NEWSAR attended the Coedpoeth area to search for a vulnerable missing person in an operation that continued over three days. Extra assistance was provided by the RAF Mountain Rescue Team from Valley and by search dogs from SARDA Wales. Sadly, the missing person was found deceased on the fourth day by a member of the public, outside the areas previously searched.

 

37/14 – 15/9/14

Whilst being stood down from the previous incident, the team received a request from Dyfed Powys Police to travel to the Welshpool area to assist with a search for a teenager missing from home – the Team was stood down whilst travelling to the incident.

 

36/14 – 14/9/14

The Team was called to assist with a search for a vulnerable person in the Hawarden area – the missing person was found by police officers engaged on the same task.

Team called by North Wales Police to assist with rescue of a person reported as injured in the hills to the west of Llandrillo.

Team called by North Wales Police to assist with rescue of a person reported as injured in the disused quarries to the Horseshoe Pass.

 

25/14 – 1/6/14

Team called by North Wales Police to reports of a significantly overdue party of young people on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the Clwydian Hills.  Found soon after deployment.   The youngsters were all well equipped and had just taken some wrong turns. All part of the adventure for them, but a bit worrying for the leader that was waiting to meet them. It’s great to see young people out gaining new skills in the outdoors and stretching themselves.

 

24/14 – 17/5/14

Team called by North Wales Police to search for a person reported as injured in the hills near Corwen.

This tasking proved to be the result of a hoax call.

 

23/14 – 17/5/14

Team called to provide water side search capability in Bala.  Stood down enroute as sufficient other resources were then in place.  Condolences to family and friends of the deceased.
