52/13 – 30/12/13

NEWSAR was called out to assist a casualty who was believed to have fallen from a high viaduct near Ruabon. Sadly, the person was found to be deceased, and the Team assisted the police by recovering the body from an area that was difficult to access.

 

51/13 – 5/12/13
NEWSAR was tasked with a search of a flooded area at Kinmel Bay, but was stood down when the water level was found to be lower than first feared.

 

50/13 – 27/11/13

The Team was called out to assist with a search for a missing person in the Gresford area.

 

49/13 – 31/10/13

Following a request for assistance from a male walker on Moel Hiraddug who had been caught out by nightfall without a torch, a team member living locally guided the man down safely.

 

48/13 – 28/10/13

The Team received a request from Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation for assistance with a search in the Eastern Carneddau – the persons were located before NEWSAR deployed.

 

47/13 – 22/10/13

The team recovered a woman injured in a fall at Ewloe Castle. The casualty was in an inaccessible and hazardous location which required a technical rope access system – she was subsequently airlifted to hospital by 22 Sqn RAF.

 

46/13 – 13/10/13

NEWSAR received a request for assistance in searching for a lost person at Llandegla Mountain Bike Centre – the team was stood down when the person was found.

 

45/13 – 07/09/13

The Team assisted a 65-year-old male with an ankle injury on Moel Gaer.

 

44/13 – 03/09/13

NEWSAR received a report of two females on Bryn Euryn, without torches and in failing light. The women were able to self-rescue before the Team was called out.

 

43/13 – 26/08/13

A small number of team members assisted the Welsh Ambulance Service to evacuate a woman with a broken ankle on Moel Famau.

 

42/13 – 11/08/13

NEWSAR received a request for assistance by Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation, following report of three males lost in the Foel Fras area of the Carneddau – the team was stood down before being deployed after the missing persons turned up safe and well.

 

41/13 – 10/08/13

The Team responded to a report of an elderly vulnerable male missing from a care home near Wrexham.

 

40/13 – 9/8/13

The Team was placed on standby to assist Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation with a long stretcher carry on Carnedd Llewelyn, but was later stood down.

 

39/13 – 07/08/13

The Team responded to a request for assistance by SARDA Wales in searching for a high risk missing person in the Bryn Euryn area.

 

38/13 – 25/07/13

Following a report of a vehicle having left the road and fallen down a steep drop in the Bwlch Penbarras area, the Team attended to assist Ambulance and Fire Services. Sadly, a male occupant of the vehicle was found to be deceased, and NEWSAR assisted the other agencies to recover the body.

 

37/13 – 02/07/13

The Team assisted with the search for a vulnerable male person missing from home in the Llysfaen area.

 

36/13 – 30/06/13

The Team assisted with the search for a diabetic and vulnerable male, missing from home in the Wrexham area.

 

35/13 – 28/06/13

The Team received a report of three 15-year-old females on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition lost in the Moel Famau area.

 

34/13 – 22/06/13

The team was requested to assist the Welsh Ambulance Service with a mountain biker with a wrist injury at Llandegla.

 

33/13 – 15/06/13

The Team received a request from the Welsh Ambulance Service for assistance in evacuating a male with a lower leg injury at Llandegla.

 

32/13 – 14/6/13

Team members attended the Horseshoe Pass area to search for a missing person. Sadly, the person was found deceased in a local quarry.

 

31/13 – 02/06/13

The Team received a request from SARDA Wales for assistance in searching for a vulnerable male person in the Llyn Brenig area. Sadly, the man’s body was found some days later by police divers.

 

30/13 – 24/05/13

The Team responded to the report of four males lost on the hills in the Horseshoe Pass area.

 

29/13 – 03/05/13

The team was called out to search for a vulnerable person, missing from home in the Holywell area.

 

28/13 – 27 to 28/04/13

The team was called out to search for a vulnerable person, missing from home in the Buckley area.

 

27/13 – 26/04/13

The team was called out to search for a vulnerable person, missing from home in the Holywell area.

 

26/13 – 20/04/13

The team was called out to evacuate an injured paraglider from Llantysilio Mountain.  Evacuated with the assistance of 22 Sqn from RAF Valley.

 

25/13 – 09/04/13 and 12/04/13

The team was called out to search for a vulnerable person, missing from home in the Wrexham area.

 

24/13 – 29/03/13

The team was called out to search for a vulnerable person, missing from home in the Wrexham area.

 

23/13 – 25/03/13

The team was called out to carry out a welfare check on a person in the Llandegla area.  Whilst liaising with North Wales Police, police officers managed to reach the person concerned and the team was not required.

 

22/13 – 24/03/13

The team was called out following reports of a vehicle stuck in the snow near Llyn Brenig.  Team deployed and evacuated those in the vehicle.

 

21/13 – 24/03/13

The team was once again deployed to a remote property near Llandegla to carry out a further welfare check on the family living there (17/13).  A decision was made to evacuate them from the property and this was done with the assistance of Aberglaslyn MRT and a helicopter from RAF Valley.

 

20/13 – 24/03/13

A team vehicle was deployed to the Eryrys area together with a vehicle crewed by Llanberis MRT to carry out a welfare check on vulnerable people.  One person was evacuated and taken to a place of safety.

 

19/13 – 24/03/13

The Team was called to a report of up to 10 cars stuck in snow near Caerwys.  One Landrover deployed but weren’t needed as a local farmer had provided assistance.

 

18/13 – 23/03/13

The Team was called out to the Brymbo area to assist WAS evacuate a casualty they were unable to reach due to the poor weather and road conditions.

 

17/13 – 23/03/13

One Landrover was then deployed to a remote property near Llandegla to carry out a welfare check on the family living there.

16/13 – 23/03/13

A team member joined Llanberis MRT to provide local knowledge around the Llangollen area.  The vehicle was deployed to an outlying property to carry out a welfare check on those living there.

 

15/13 – 23/03/13

A second Landrover was deployed to Church Stretton to locate and evacuate three walkers on the Long Mynd.

 

14/13 – 23/03/13

One Landrover was tasked to Llanarmon-yn-Ial to assist WAS evacuate a casualty they were unable to reach due to the poor weather and road conditions.

 

13/13 – 23/03/13

A second Landrover was then tasked to Glyn Ceirog to assist the WAS evacuate a casualty they were unable to reach due to poor weather and road conditions.

 

12/13 – 23/03/13

One Landrover was tasked to Hope Mountain to assist WAS evacuate a casualty they were unable to reach due to poor weather and road conditions.

 

11/13 – 23/03/13

A second Landrover was tasked to Llandegla to assist WAS evacuate two casualties they were unable to reach due to poor weather and road conditions.

 

10/13 – 23/03/13

One Landrover was tasked to Treuddyn to assist the Welsh Ambulance Service (WAS) to evacuate an injured casualty they were unable to reach due to poor weather and road conditions.

 

09/13 – 22/03/13

Once both Landrovers were fully functional, the team was tasked to assist three people stuck in their cars in the Berwyns.  Due to the worsening weather conditions and the fact that the people were well equipped and willing to spend the night in their cars, we were stood down en route.

 

08/13 – 22/03/13

The team was called to a car with three persons stuck in snowdrifts near Bryneglwys.  The First Responder dealt with the call but handed it over to OVMRO as the Team only had one Landrover fully functional at that time.

 

07/13 – 16/03/13

First Responder was contacted regarding a vulnerable person missing from home in the Bala area.  First Responder gave search management advice and passed call to SARDA.  Team attendance was requested but this was out of the team’s area and passed onto South Snowdonia SAR team.

 

06/13 – 08/03/13

Late in the evening a neighbouring Team requested our potential assistance with a protracted search and subsequent rescue.  Twelve team members were on standby through the night.  In the end we were not required and stood down at 07:00.

 

05/13 – 13/02/13

The Team was called out to help evacuate a person who had injured themselves working in the Horseshoe Pass area.  Weather conditions were very poor but the casualty was carried off the hill and evacuated to an awaiting ambulance.

 

04/13 – 12/02/13

The Team was contacted to help two people stuck in their car on ice near Bala.  The call was transferred to Aberdyfi MRT as the incident was their area.

 

03/13 – 21/01/13

The Team was called by West Mercia Police to search for a person missing near Telford.  The call was transferred to West Midlands SAR as it was in their area.

 

02/13 – 16/01/13

The team was called out to assist an injured person who had fallen on Moel Famau.  The casualty was evacuated with the assistance of the Denbighshire Council Countryside Service

 

01/13 – 04/01/13

The team was called out to evacuate a fallen walker on the Offa’s Dyke Path near Bodfari.  The walker was carried off the hill by the Team and taken to an awaiting ambulance.
