How Can You Help NEWSAR?

All team members are volunteers and we do not receive any payment for providing this service to the Police.

​

It costs approximately £30,000 a year to run the Team – this covers fuel and repairs for our vehicles, protective equipment for team members, training courses, team equipment such as ropes, stretchers etc.

​

The majority of this money is raised through street collections, grant applications, collecting tins, personal donations (often after a rescue) and sponsored events.

​

You could help us to achieve our fundraising goals in a number of ways

​

• Organising or assisting with a fundraising event.

• Donate a piece of equipment to the Team.

• Host a Collection Box.

NEWSAR Supporters Group is recruiting

​

If you are unable to commit to being on call 24 hours a day, or do not have sufficient hill skills/fitness to become an Operational member, or want to begin the process of becoming an Operational member in the future.

​

Then becoming a Supporter Group member of NEWSAR may be an alternative way for you to contribute by donating your valuable time to supporting the team.

In return we can offer you –

• specific Supporters Groups outdoor activities,

• involvement in a great team,

• closed group Facebook Supporters page,

• membership card allowing discounts in some outdoor shops,

PLEASE NOTE :  we are in a very fortunate position where we are over subscribed for team hill members and have a waiting list of about 1 year. This doesn't stop you applying to be a Team Supporter as there are other valuable roles we need help with.

 

NEWSAR Supporters is the support group of North East Wales Search & Rescue. By joining NEWSAR Supporters you will be helping NEWSAR to provide a rescue service, even if you do not have the time, skills, experience, or fitness required to be active in the hills yourself.  

 

By joining NEWSAR Supporters, you are donating your valuable time to provide professional skills in areas such as finance, marketing, law etc. or helping at fundraising events, writing letters, assisting with maintenance at our Base and, if you wish, taking the opportunity to join us for team exercises.

 

We actively encourage all NEWSAR Supporters members to visit base where a warm welcome awaits. In exchange for your time we will send you a regular newsletter and emails inviting you to take part in team events plus a membership card entitling you to discounts at some outdoor shops.
