Thank you for choosing to support North East Wales Search & Rescue (NEWSAR). As a volunteer-led registered charity, we rely on the generosity of people like you to help fund the vital work we do across our region.

We welcome and encourage fundraising efforts from individuals, community groups, schools, and businesses. While you don’t need written permission to fundraise in aid of us, we ask that you follow the guidelines below to ensure your fundraising is safe, legal, and aligned with our values.

1. Fundraising in Aid of NEWSAR

• You do not need written permission from NEWSAR to raise funds in aid of the charity.

• However, you must make it clear that you are fundraising in aid of North East Wales Search & Rescue, and not representing the charity itself.

• You are responsible for running your event or activity in a way that is compliant with the law and the Code of Fundraising Practice. (Link to further information)

 

2. Use of the NEWSAR Name and Logo

• While you are welcome to say you are “fundraising in aid of North East Wales Search & Rescue”, use of our logo on promotional materials, social media, merchandise, or press coverage requires written permission.

• If you would like to use the NEWSAR logo, please contact us at fundraising.officer@newsar.org.uk with details of your activity and how you intend to use it.

• Our logo must not be altered in any way and must only be used in line with our brand guidelines.

 

3. Compliance with UK Fundraising Rules

• All fundraising must comply with:

  • The Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice

  • Relevant UK laws and regulations (including health and safety, licensing, and data protection)

• Examples of where you may need to check regulations or seek local authority permission include:

  • Street collections or public collections

  • Raffles, lotteries, or prize draws

  • Events held on public land or requiring road closures.

 

4. Health, Safety, and Insurance

• You are responsible for ensuring your fundraising event is run safely, and with appropriate planning and risk assessments.

• If your activity involves the general public, please consider taking out public liability insurance.

• NEWSAR cannot accept responsibility or liability for any fundraising activities organised by third parties.

 

5. Handling and Submitting Funds

• All money raised in aid of NEWSAR must be sent to us in full and within 30 days of your fundraising activity.

• Please use secure payment methods such as:

  • Bank transfer

  • Online platforms such as JustGiving

  • Cheque made payable to (North East Wales Search & Rescue)

• Keep clear records of income and any expenses. If you deduct expenses, this must be transparent and reasonable.

• If donors are UK taxpayers, you may be able to increase their donations with Gift Aid. Please contact us to request Gift Aid forms.

 

6. Transparency and Promotion

• All communications and promotional materials should clearly state that your fundraising is “in aid of North East Wales Search & Rescue” (not “on behalf of” or “organised by” NEWSAR).

• We’re happy to help promote your event on our social media or website if appropriate – just get in touch!

 

7. Contacting the Media or Seeking Sponsorship

• If you plan to approach the press or seek sponsorship from businesses using our name, please notify us first.

• We may be able to provide you with official wording, facts about our work, or quotes to help support your campaign.

 

8. Thank You and Acknowledgement

• Once your fundraising is complete, we’ll be happy to send you a letter  of thanks.

• We love to share stories of supporter fundraising, so feel free to send us photos or updates!
