42/12 – Callout to the Bala area
The Team was contacted at 19:38 regarding two lost walkers on Aran Fawddwy. Although this isn’t within our area, we were offering support to other North Wales teams as they have been heavily involved in the search for five year old April Jones in Machynlleth.
The Team was called out and deployed along with volunteer team members from Aberdyfi Mountain Rescue Team, South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team, Kinder Mountain Rescue Team and Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team.
Assistance from RAF 22 Squadron was also requested. Unfortunately they had mechanical issues with the first helicopter and had to return to base before redeploying with a second. The Teams were part way up to the lost walkers when Rescue 122 arrived on scene and airlifted them to safety.
