CALLOUT: On Wednesday afternoon we were called to Llandegla Forest to assist an injured mountain biker. Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust paramedics were already on scene and we were asked to assist with the evacuation.

Due to the suspected injuries the WAST paramedics had requested assistance from the Maritime & Coastguard Agency helicopter service.

The helicopter crew reviewed the potential winch locations and on balance it was agreed by all that the winching risk to the patient was greater than if we carefully carried the casualty out. The team packaged the casualty onto our wheeled stretcher and very carefully walked out to the road. The casualty was then conveyed by road ambulance to hospital.

Get well soon!
