It was a busy Sunday for our volunteers.
Callout 1 – Padeswood, late morning
Just before 11am we were asked to assist Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust after a man fell down a steep bank, with a wall collapsing onto him during the fall. The initial report suggested a serious leg injury and a potentially difficult extraction.
As our volunteers were deploying, we received confirmation that Gwasnaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru had reached the casualty and completed the extraction. Our team members already en route were stood down.
Callout 2 – Llandegla, mid‑afternoon
At around 3pm we were contacted by North Wales Police requesting our assistance at a mountain biking incident in Llandegla.
With support from staff at Oneplanet Adventure , the casualty was quickly located. Once Welsh Ambulance Service had provided pain relief, the casualty was carefully transfered into a vacuum mattress and on to our stretcher. Using the stretcher wheel and back‑up ropes, the team evacuated the casualty to the road, where they were handed over to a Helimed aircraft.
A huge thank you to every volunteer who responded today — especially those who gave up their sunny Sunday afternoon and Father’s Day to help others.
