CALLOUT - Lost Walker in the Clwydians. 08 08 26

On the 8th August, while the team was already deployed elsewhere, we received a request from North Wales Police to assist a walker who had become lost in the Clwydians.

The walker had become increasingly concerned after being unable to find her way off the hill and had limited phone battery remaining. With warm conditions and no water remaining, there was a risk that the situation could deteriorate if contact was lost.

Using Sarloc Rescue  PhoneFind and information provided by the walker, the team was able to establish her location and provide some guidance to help her make her way towards a nearby farm. A small team was deployed to ensure she was located safely and to provide assistance if required.

By the time the team arrived, the walker had successfully reached the farm, where the kind owners had provided water for both her and her dogs. Team members then accompanied her back to her vehicle, bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.

A really positive outcome and, importantly, the walker did exactly the right thing by contacting North Wales Police when she realised she needed help. Getting in touch early can prevent a situation from escalating, particularly in warm weather or when phone battery, water or other resources are running low.

A great example of a small intervention helping to prevent what could have become a much more serious incident.
