On Wednesday evening, we were contacted by North Wales Police requesting our assistance in the search for a high-risk missing person in the Halkyn area.
Team members were deployed and carried out targeted foot searches throughout the evening before being stood down around midnight.
Searches resumed on Thursday morning, although resources were more limited due to work commitments. Assistance was requested from our neighbouring teams, Cheshire Search & Rescue and Môn-SAR, and we are extremely grateful for their support. Additional team members also joined the search later that evening after finishing their day jobs.
Throughout the search, National Police Air Service (NPAS) and the police drone unit provided valuable aerial support to assist ground teams covering the area, alongside support from dogs and handlers from Search & Rescue Dog Association Wales (SARDA)
At around 8pm, a call came in from a member of the public reporting that they believed they had located the missing person on their land. A small number of team members responded immediately and were relieved to find her cold, but thankfully safe
While the team carried out an initial assessment, Welsh ambulance service arrived on scene. Thankfully, she was able to walk into the ambulance herself for further checks and care.
This outcome highlights the importance of partnership working, the support of the public, and the dedication shown by all volunteers involved over the two days.
We wish the casualty well in her recovery.

Our team of volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days responding to those in need throughout Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham & parts of Conwy & Powys.
