Swiftwater Rescue training exercise 17.06.26

Wednesday night saw our team head to Llangollen for a Swiftwater Rescue training exercise, focusing on casualty transportation across moving water and the wider skills required to safely manage a water rescue incident.

Our Swiftwater Rescue Team were tasked with safely moving a casualty within a rescue sled from one side of the river to the other. Throughout the exercise, rescuers established a two-point boat tether systems, using controlled rope systems from either bank to manoeuvre the sled safely across the water.

Team members not operating as Swiftwater Rescue Technicians focused on the fundamentals of water safety, including equipment setup and deployment, supporting SRT operations, understanding water safety, and conducting effective bankside searches.

Training nights like these ensure the whole team can work together safely and effectively, whether operating in the water, supporting from the bank, or assisting with search operations.
