Major incident exercise

On Sunday two NEWSAR team members were invited by Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team as guests to a multi agency search and rescue exercise.

The exercise involved Police and Fire Service personnel as well as members from other volunteer SAR teams.

They didn't know what was coming.... so they got a big shock to discover they were suddenly involved in dealing with a "crashed aircraft" with many casualties spread over a large area, including in a reservoir! The initial job was to triage and prioritise all the injured, then treat and evacuate them.

Our two team members ended up leading on the Casualty Care in the group they were assigned to.

A massive thank you to Holme Valley for the invitation.
