On 14th July, our assistance was requested to help a girl taking part in her Silver Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) expedition who had slipped while descending Foel Fenlli.
A group from Brynhyfryd School, who were walking nearby, kindly stopped to assist. Despite their support and initial pain relief, the casualty was unable to continue.
After further assessment, her lower leg was splinted, and further pain relief was administered. Due to the location and her inability to weight-bear, we used a combination of sledging, carrying, and wheeling her on a stretcher down to our Land Rover.
She was then handed over to DOE leaders for onward travel to the hospital.
A tricky job with just six team members available, as the remainder of the team were already committed to an ongoing search — but a good outcome thanks to teamwork and swift coordination.
Our team of volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days responding to those in need throughout Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham & parts of Conwy & Powys.
